Today, Mr. Christos Tsitouras, Chairman of ATTIKO METRO S.A., gave Mr. Ioannis Economidis, Secretary General of Public Works, a tour in the areas of the main worksites of Thessaloniki Metro.
Upon completion of his visit in EFKLIDIS Station worksite area, Mr. Ioannis Economidis made the following statements: “The progress in all Metro fronts is currently quite satisfactory, while both Tunnel Boring Machines are constructing the project tunnels at an intensive pace. Thessaloniki Metro constitutes a 1.5 billion € investment that will drastically enhance the city of Thessaloniki”.
Further on, Mr. Christos Tsitouras, Chairman of ATTIKO METRO S.A., underlined that: “Projects of national magnitude, such as the “Thessaloniki Metro”, should be kept away from “petty politics”, since, in any other case it is the citizens and the national economy who will suffer all adverse consequences. Once more, I urgently request all authorities and agencies of the city to “embrace” the Project, for Thessaloniki Metro to be completed as soon as possible.
Actually, the construction of the Metro system during the last months has been rapidly progressing and adherence to the time schedule of the archaeological excavations has been significantly improved. The “Thessaloniki Metro” is a Project integrating the expectations of all citizens of the city for a better quality of life”.
