New Metro Line 4, Section A’ – Alsos Veikou-Goudi
KOLONAKI STATION
TEMPORARY TRAFFIC ARRANGEMENTS
In the framework of the works for the construction of KOLONAKI Station of the new Athens Metro Line 4 – Section A’: Alsos Veikou – Goudi, the preparatory works concerning the execution of archaeological works in the C/C section of the station located in Filikis Etaireias square have already commenced, mitigating, thus, to the minimum extent the disturbance caused to the traffic and to the socio-economic activities in the area.
Based on the construction sequence, the works concerning the relocation of the particularly critical PUO networks (High, Medium and Low Voltage of DEDDHE, Natural Gas, EYDAP, OTE etc.) passing through the C/C section of the subject station shall follow. For this reason, it is imperative to implement temporary traffic arrangements in the surrounding area, scheduled to commence in the morning of Sunday July 31st 2022.
It is stressed that, during the preparation of the designs for the temporary traffic arrangements, particular care has been taken to mitigate the unavoidable disturbance in the wider area, keeping -to the extent possible- streets open to traffic, and ensuring at the same time the supply of shops, loading-unloading of vehicles, the controlled parking, keeping OASA bus and Taxi stops in operation, and providing services to the permanent residents in the aforementioned area during the implementation of the above.
The first phase of traffic arrangements for KOLONAKI Station will commence in the morning of Sunday July 31st 2022, as follows, and will last approximately 3 weeks.
- Traffic from Anagnostopoulou street towards Patriarchou Ioakeim street will be effected only to the direction of Marasleios;
- In Patriarchou Ioakeim street, in its section from Skoufa street to Kanari street, the traffic will be carried out in one traffic lane, 4.50m wide.
- The vehicular traffic in both directions of Patriarchou Ioakeim street, in its section starting from Tsakalof pedestrianized street and ending before Skoufa street, will be temporarily interrupted.
Throughout the duration of the aforementioned works, ATTIKO METRO S.A. and the work crews of the Contracting Company will be at the disposal of the residents and the adjacent businesses.
The public will be promptly informed about the duration and the implementation of the traffic phases to follow.
ATTIKO METRO S.A. would like to extent its appreciation for the understanding of the public and to request the cooperation of the citizens in view of the smooth progress and completion of this major Project that will significantly upgrade the quality of life in the city of Athens.
