The Chairman and Managing Director of ATTIKO METRO S.A., Mr. Christos Tsitouras, recently met with the Vice Governor of Central Macedonia Region – Thessaloniki Metropolitan Area, Ms. Voula Patoulidou. During their meeting, Mr. Tsitouras advised Ms. Patoulidou on the developments regarding Thessaloniki Metro Base Project, the progress of works on the Metro extension to Kalamaria, the progress of the designs concerning the future Metro extensions to Stavroupoli and Evosmos, as well as on the planned extension to the Airport. Special reference was made to VENIZELOU Station, the revealing of the archaeological finds and the procedure related to the construction and completion of this station on condition that all related problems are solved.
The Chairman and Managing Director of ATTIKO METRO S.A. stated that ATTIKO METRO S.A. provides its continuous support to local communities and that substantial cooperation with the regional authorities is a prerequisite for solving any problems of common interest. Mr. Christos Tsitouras emphasized on the capacity and the know-how of ATTIKO METRO S.A. and made a detailed presentation of the urban interventions in the project construction areas, the re-development works following the completion of the construction works, as well as of the traffic arrangements in the wider area of the works falling under the Company’s jurisdiction.
The Vice Governor of Central Macedonia Region – Thessaloniki Metropolitan Area, Ms. Voula Patoulidou, expressed her satisfaction at being comprehensively and substantially updated and confirmed that the Central Macedonia Regional Authority will provide its unreserved support to the Metro projects. She also added that she expects to witness tangible results in the immediate future from the implementation of such projects, which are extremely necessary in view of improving the citizens’ quality of life, and the settlement of all pending issues related to the revealing of the archaeological finds in VENIZELOU Station.
