THESSALONIKI METRO – CONSTRUCTION OF NOMARCHIA STATION Temporary Traffic Arrangements

The Thessaloniki Metro Extension project to Kalamaria is in progress and works are ready to commence at the third worksite of the extension, namely at NOMARCHIA worksite, located after Micra and Nea Krini.

In particular, the works related to the diversion of Public Utility Organizations networks for the construction of NOMARCHIA Station will commence on July 31st 2014. In view of the above, the following traffic arrangements must be implemented at a first stage, namely:

  • Closure of Ifigenias Street to traffic, and more precisely of the traffic lane with direction towards Vas. Olgas Street, namely, at its section extending between Mitr. Kydonion and Vas. Olgas Streets.
  • Closure of Moschonission Street to traffic, and more precisely of the traffic lane with direction towards Vas. Olgas Street, namely, at its section extending between Kifissias and Vas. Olgas Streets.
  • Closure of the left deceleration lane of Mitr. Kydonion Street to traffic (traffic lane with direction towards Vas. Olgas Street), at its section extending from its beginning up to its junction with Vas. Olgas Street.

Therefore:

  • Ifigenias Street traffic lane with direction towards Mitr. Kydonion at its section extensing between Vas. Olgas and Mitr. Kydonion Street is converted into a two-way street with one traffic lane per direction.
  • Kyprou Street is converted into a dead-end street at its section extending from its junction with Kerkyras Street up to Ifigenias Street. Traffic circulation to and from roadside properties shall be allowed.
  • Moschonission Street traffic lane with direction towards Voulgari Street is converted into a two-way street at its section extending between Vas. Olgas and Kifissias Streets, with one traffic lane per direction.

The aforementioned traffic diversions shall last three months.
