ATHENS METRO – Undivided Cooperation between ATTIKO METRO S.A. and the Local Government Authorities

ATTIKO METRO S.A. stands by the Local Government and utilizes the capabilities it has and the know-how it has acquired, in order to implement a series of interventions in the metro construction work areas, further to the recent legislative regulation providing for the materialization of interventions in urban environment, re-development of public areas, conversion of areas into pedestrinized routes and other traffic arrangements in the wider area in which our Company carries out its construction activities.

Mr. Christos Tsitouras, Chairman of the BoD and Managing Director of ATTIKO METRO S.A. stressed that the consulting and technical services offered by the specialized scientific resources of ATTIKO METRO S.A. to the Local Government Organizations – in the Company’s capacity as Project Manager – are provided in view of facilitating the procedure for securing and approving the necessary funds, for completing the projects and ensuring optimum quality, so that the Local Government acquires the useful “instrument” that will allow it to succeed in improving the quality of life for local communities.

Messrs. Andreas Pachatouridis, Mayor of Peristeri, Vassilios Valassopoulos, Mayor of Ilioupoli, Athanassios Orfanos, Mayor of Alimos, Christos Kortzidis, Mayor of Elliniko-Argyroupoli, Christos Kardaras, Mayor of Egaleo, George Kaplanis, Mayor of Aghia Varvara, Stavros Kassimatis, Mayor of Korydallos, George Ioakimidis, Mayor of Nikea-Aghios Ioannis Rentis, Mrs. Maria Androutsou, Mayor of Aghios Dimitrios, Messrs. Vassilis Xydis, Mayor of Papagos-Holargos, Geoge Kourassis, Mayor of Halandri, Pantelis Xiridakis, Mayor of Filothei-Psychiko-Neo Psychiko and Panayiotis Reppas, Vice-Mayor of Piraeus, in the presence of Mr. Stratos Simopoulos, Secretary General of Public Works, were informed in detail about both direct and indirect benefits to be obtained thanks to the construction of the new Metro Stations.

More specifically, Mr. Christos Tsitouras, Chairman of the BoD and Managing Director of ATTIKO METRO S.A. stressed that “innovation is the daily motto in the Metro Works. Even the more so, apart from rapid, comfortable and safe trips, the Metro System offers “surplus value” in the areas where Metro Stations are being constructed, a fact that has a direct impact on the commercial and economic activities of the Municipalities. Towards this direction and in close and harmonious cooperation with the Local Government authorities, our next objective is to provide technical and consulting services to the Municipalities”.

Mr. Stratos Simopoulos, Secretary General of Public Works stressed the importance attributed by the Ministry and ATTIKO METRO S.A. to the immediate implementation and handing-over of the projects, the re-development of the areas upon completion of the Metro worksite occupations, the re-development program that has already been implemented at the surface level of the seven new stations to be commissioned soon, as well as the exposure of the antiquities that have been brought to light, thanks to the Metro construction activities.

On their part, the Mayors expressed their undivided support to the Metro works and their satisfaction about the new way of operation proposed by ATTIKO METRO S.A., along with their anticipation for tangible results in the near future through the implementation of such projects, so much needed for the improvement of the quality of life for their citizens.
