During the meeting held today at ATTIKO METRO S.A. Premises in the city of Thessaloniki, the Manager of Thessaloniki Metro Project, Mr. George Konstantinidis, briefed the representatives of the Public and Private Associations of Entrepreneurs about the resuming of works in the worksite areas.
The following persons attended the subject meeting, representing the Public and Private Associations of Entrepreneurs of Thessaloniki, namely:
Mr. Yiannis Mandrinos, Chairman of the Federation of Trade Professionals of Thessaloniki Prefecture;
Mr. Panayiotis Tsaramboulidis, Chairman of the Laborers/Employees Center of Thessaloniki;
Mr. Emmanuel Vlachoyiannis, Vice-Chairman A’ of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Thessaloniki;
MrGeorge Iliadis, Vice-Chairman A’ of Professional Chamber of Thessaloniki;
MrKosmas Kaloyiannis, Vice-Chairman of Traders Association of Thessaloniki and MrsChristina Molfessi,Manageress of Traders Association of Thessaloniki;
MrMihalis Chrysochoidis, Secretary of Hotel Owners Association of Thessaloniki;
Mr. Dimitrios Raidis, Member of the BoD of the Northern Greece Exporters Federation.
More specifically, during this meeting, the following issues were stressed:
- The funding for the Thessaloniki Metro Project has been secured through the Community Programs and the European Investment Bank.
ATTIKO METRO S.A. has being paying and still pays in time the Project Payment Certificates, and does not owe any money for executed works. - The approved time schedule, which foresees completion by November 2016, is indeed realist and can be adhered to provided that the Joint Venture meets its contractual obligations.
- ATTIKO METRO S.A., representing the Greek State, understands the difficult position of the employees who work for the Contracting Joint Venture, which is responsible for the construction of THESSALONIKI METRO, and it has already proceeded with the payment of part of their salaries for days actually worked, in line with the Greek Legislation, while it has already initiated the necessary actions for the resolution of the problem.
- ATTIKO METRO S.A., in the framework of the Memorandum of Cooperation signed with the agencies of Thessaloniki, is in communication with the School of Fine Arts of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and the Artists Association of Fine Arts of Northern Greece for the improvement in terms of aesthetics of the fencing of the worksites at Thessaloniki Metro.
