Yesterday, September 1st 2011, a working session was held in ATTIKO METRO S.A./Thessaloniki Metro premises on the cooperation of ATTIKO METRO S.A./Thessaloniki Metro with Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and the Municipality of Thessaloniki concerning the parking facilities in the University areas, as well as the planning and implementation of plastic arts and other artistic interventions and events in the Metro worksite areas for their aesthetical upgrading and the hosting of cultural events.
ATTIKO METRO S.A./Thessaloniki Metro aims at facilitating the functions of the city and the university campus, as well as establishing a cooperation with the university community for capitalizing on the knowledge and skills of its human resources to the benefit of the citizens of Thessaloniki.
In the meeting held within the framework of the Memorandum of Cooperation between ATTIKO METRO S.A./Thessaloniki Metro and the representatives of local authorities, the following members of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki have participated, namely: Deputy Dean Prof. Yiannis Pantis, the Dean of the School of Fine Arts Prof. Dimitris Naziris, the Chairmen of the Plastic Arts/Music/Theatrical Studies Departments Professors Xenofon Sachinis, Evie Nika-Sampson and Efi Stamouli, Professors Apostolos Vettas and Georgios Divaris, as well as the Technical University Professor Spyros Spatalas and Mr. Michalis Chalvatzoglou, engineer of the Technical Service.
On behalf of the Municipality of Thessaloniki, the meeting was attended by Ms. Aikaterini Danadiadou/ Engineering Department and Mr. Stavros Anastasiadis/ Construction Department.
ATTIKO METRO S.A. was represented by Mr. George Konstantinidis, Thessaloniki Metro Projects Manager, while Ms. Aikaterini Karela, Mara Tambaki and Anni Karolidou, Thessaloniki Metro executives, also attended the meeting.
In the immediate future and based on concrete proposals, all possible interventions in Metro stations shall be formulated for implementation immediately or in medium-long term, in view of recording the significant progress of the project in scientific/ technical and historical terms and revealing the particular historical and cultural character of the city of Thessaloniki.
