As of tomorrow Tuesday April 12th, the worksite intended for the construction of DIMOKRATIAS Station and the branching of Thessaloniki Metro Line to Stavroupoli, will be relocated to the northern section of Monastiriou Street from Dimokratias Square to Tantalou Street.
The southern section of Monastiriou Street is handed over again to the public, since the first phase of the archaeological excavations has been completed. The completion of the archaeological investigation shall precede the works for the construction of the station and the branching of the line.
As regards the traffic in Monastiriou Street, it is pointed out that two traffic lanes per direction will be maintained in Monastiriou Street, while the following traffic arrangements will be effected, namely:
The sections of Promitheos and Odysseos Streets, from their junctions with Afroditis Street and up to Monastiriou Street, will be turned into dead-ends. Vehicular traffic for this specific section will be ensured via the surrounding streets.
Stop and parking for all vehicles on either side of Tantalou Street – in its section from its junction with Monastiriou Street and up to Afroditis Street – as well as on the right-hand side of Afroditis Street (based on the traffic direction), in its section from its junction with Langada Street up to Tantalou Street, are strictly forbidden.
