Further to the visit of the Minister of Infrastructures and Transport, Christos Spirtzis and the Chairman of the ATTIKO METRO S.A. BoD, Professor Yannis A. Mylopoulos to Israel on July 24th and 25th 2017, on Thursday August 3rd 2017 – and for the first time – ATTIKO METRO S.A. expressed its intention to participate in the bidding process for undertaking projects abroad. More specifically, ATTIKO METRO S.A., together with the Israeli Company Gadish, submitted an offer for undertaking the management of the project concerning two (2) Urban Light Railway Lines in Tel Aviv.
This new extroversion policy of ATTIKO METRO S.A. for undertaking projects abroad is here to replace the former strategy that weakened the company. Individual executives of the ATTIKO METRO S.A – having ensured leave without pay – took advantage of the Company’s know-how for their own benefit and transferred in projects under execution in the Middle East and elsewhere.
The results of the aforementioned tender are anticipated within the following months.
On the occasion of the above, the Chairman of the ATTIKO METRO S.A. BoD Professor Yannis A. Mylopoulos and the Vice Chairman and Managing Director of ATTIKO METRO S.A. Mr. Theodoros Papadopoulos made the following statement: “In view of satisfying the national need and implementing the governmental policy for productive reformation and development of the Greek economy using the country’s competitive advantages, it is the first time that ATTIKO METRO S.A. opens new paths for the utilization and transfer of know-how aboard, by participating in an international tender in Israel.
The human resources, the Greek scientific personnel and the valuable know-how acquired during the last decades in the design, management and construction of technical projects in Greece constitute an undisputable comparative advantage that is now internationally acknowledged.
